Bye Blue Light Partners with Husson University Esports to Elevate Gaming and Promote Vision Health

Bangor, Maine- July 10th, 2023 - Bye Blue Light is excited to announce its strategic partnership with Husson University Esports, a program that fosters a competitive environment while prioritizing the well-being of its student athletes. Husson University Esports provides a platform for student players to engage in team-based video game contests against other universities, competing in popular titles such as Super Smash Brothers, Overwatch, Rocket League, Valorant, and more.

State-of-the-Art Esports Center Enhances the Gaming Experience

Husson University's commitment to excellence is reflected in its state-of-the-art Esports Center, which opened its doors in the spring of 2022 and is already receiving an expansion for fall of 2023. The expanded center will boast 35 high-end PC setups and 5 console stations, with comfortable lounge seating, providing the student gamers with optimal conditions to showcase their skills. Each console station includes an Xbox Series X, a PlayStation 5, and a Nintendo Switch. Additionally, a dedicated streaming setup allows students to commentate, produce, and broadcast their teammates' matches. The Esports Center serves as a hub for various esports and gaming programs and events, fostering a vibrant gaming community on campus.

Achievements and Success of Husson University Esports

Husson University Esports has demonstrated remarkable achievements during the 2022-23 season, showcasing the dedication and skill of its student athletes. Varsity Super Smash Bros finished with an impressive 6-2 record, reaching the round of 16 in the playoffs. Varsity Valorant achieved a commendable 5-3 record and advanced to the round of 8 in the playoffs. Varsity Overwatch 2 displayed dominance with a 7-1 record, also making it to the round of 8 in the playoffs. Additionally, JV Rocket League showcased outstanding performance throughout the season.

In recognition of the importance of vision health, Husson University Esports has partnered with Bye Blue Light to provide advanced blue light blocking technology to its student athletes. Husson University Esports goes beyond gaming, fostering a sense of community and developing leaders among its student athletes. Through their academic endeavors, student athletes have been recognized with All-Academic Honors, with 30 students awarded in the Fall 2022 season and 23 students awarded in the Spring 2023 season. Furthermore, the student athletes have actively participated in charitable causes, raising funds for the Student Clothing Assistance Fund and Northern Light Hospital.
